The Original #Girlboss Is Coming to Town! (Hey Sophia)

Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to Vox.com, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.

Sophia Amoruso doesn't really need an introduction...the woman coined #Girlboss, after all. She famously led a life of odd jobs and uncertainty before her venture Nasty Gal broke the online-clothing market. But she wasn't satisfied with closet domination alone: In just two short years, Ms. A wrote an inspiring bestseller, collaborated with another Girl—Lena Dunham on the press-tour wardrobe for her book—and, most recently, moonlighted as an advisor on all things mogul to Anne Hathaway for her new role in The Intern.

Sophia is savvy, funny and down to earth, and makes a great public speaker, which is exactly why her upcoming appearance at the Booksmith-hosted event at The Roxie Theater (3117 16th Street) on October 8th (7pm) is a dream ticket. We have a feeling this one is going to sell out so buy your ticket now. Your $23 also gets you a copy of the book and a little something something from Nasty Gal.

This won't be a one-woman show, though. Brit Morin, mastermind of the local mini e-DIY empire Brit +Co, will be joining the conversation. The dynamic duo is slated to discuss success, perfect accessories and the release of Amoruso's #Girlboss in paperback. Convenient for all those BART commutes, eh?
