Given the headline, it should come as no surprise that this interview-driven, bi-weekly podcast devoted to all things F.E.S.T (Fashion. Entrepreneurship. Sustainability. Tech.) has a badass mama—Lorraine Sanders. She's been writing about the nexus of fashion, tech and innovation in San Francisco for more than a decade. Name sound familiar? Her byline appears regularly in the San Francisco Chronicle and Women's Wear Daily.
Sanders started the Spirit of 608 podcast—named an iTunes New & Noteworthy show—as a way "to get real about fashion, clothing and style; and to be a part of a better future of fashion." Every episode features a guest that lives in the F.E.S.T. world: thought leaders, influencers and successful businesswomen. So what exactly can you expect in return for your 35-minute time commitment? "Inspiration for life and work, and, of course, discovering beautiful things that match up with your sense of style and the way you want the world to be," Sanders explains.
Currently, there are a couple of dozen podcasts to dig in to. (Binge watching listening, here we come.) Download directly from the Spirit 608 website or from iTunes. Here are a few suggestions to get you started: Episode 21 with Aniyia William of Tinsel, Episode 10 starring Who What Wear's Katherine Power and Episode 12 featuring The RealReal's Julie Wainwright.
Confirmed future guests include Modern Citizen's Jessica Lee, Bow & Drape's Aubrie Pagano, Nest executive director Rachel van Bergen and Minted's Mariam Naficy, among others. The podcast is set to continue through the end of the year.
P.S. For the record (re: that headline again): badass men, you should listen up, too.
P.P.S. We wanna be friends with Lorraine. Coffee? (Call us.)
