Score Another One For Hayes: Will Leather Goods Opens in Former Zonal Spot

Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to Vox.com, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.

Confession time: We'll probably never truly get over Zonal's closure, which happened just about a year ago. Can you blame us? The cool interior shop lived at 568 Hayes Street for 24 years. Even still, we've happily pulled out the welcome wagon (and cleared some space in our closet) to celebrate the recent opening of Will Leather Goods. We must admit, the family-owned Eugene, Oregon-based artisanal accessories retailer couldn't be a better fit for the space. And hood. Along with men's and women's leather bags, belts, backpacks, shoes and small goods, you can enjoy a cuppa Will's fave hometown brew from Tailored Coffee Roasters.

The retailer's namesake Will Adler designed and renovated the 2,000-square-foot space with the help of local architect Jim Maxwell of Architects II. (FYI: the SF store is number eight for the company, including locations in New York and Venice, CA.) The result is a beautiful and creative environment, an ideal foundation for all the gorgeous handcrafted leather creations sourced from around the globe. You'll also find hand-loomed wool rugs made in Mexico, as well as rare antiques—from just about everywhere.

Take a peek in the gallery above and then take a whirl in person. Pretty much anything that's not nailed down is for sale. (Yeah, we're in trouble.) The store is open every day from 11am to 7pm.
