Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to Vox.com, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.

After four years rocking the Los Angeles optical scene, Garrett Leight is bringing his crazy-cool Garrett Leight California Optical brand to San Francisco this summer. Leight —whose father, Larry Leight, founded Oliver Peoples— focuses on classic design and high-quality materials. "We're not trend-driven," he told Racked LA last fall. "I don't think we ever say 'right now' when we're talking about a design."

Prices for the line hover in the $250—$450 range, similar to what you pay for Oliver Peoples. The new store, which will be approximately 1080 square feet, is slated to open at 393 Hayes Street in June. If our sister site's tour of the Leight's DTLA store offers any hints as to what the Hayes Valley store will look like, this will be as much of a destination for design buffs as for eyewear fans.
