Clothes Contact has remained in business beyond its projected 2014 expiration date, but the end really is near for the decades-old vintage store. After 28 years in business, Mission Local reports the store will head to that great second-hand pile in the sky thanks to a rent hike. As we mentioned last summer, the landlord is raising the rent to $14,000 a month— an eye-popping sum for a store known for selling clothes by the pound.
Clothes Contact owner Werner Werwie announced in an email over the weekend, "We are starting a store wide, 1/2 off sale today. Until we close our doors for good." If the Valencia Street spot is one of your year-round costuming faves, it's time to make one last, great shopping expedition…for old time's sake.
