When Bayview artist (and former IDEO product designer) Angie Kim discovered her passion for leather goods in 2012, she was living and working in India for a seven-month stint. Fast forward a few years, and Angie has launched her own brand, AYK, that's ripe for expansion. To take the next step toward increased production of her hand-dyed leather bags and accessories, Angie has started a Kickstarter campaign to raise at least $30,000.
That may sound like a hefty amount, but only three days into it, and she's already raised over half the amount she needs. The bags, wallets, and keychains are simply gorgeous, and according to the campaign, "Every pattern piece is hand-painted, each one receiving up to a hundred layers of color to bring to life a gradient that captures the calming magic of a California sunset."
We're especially smitten with AYK's bucket bag (pictured, above), and —as a benefit of contributing toward the campaign— the bag could set you back $500 instead of the retail price of $620. (The only downer is that you'll have to wait until July to receive it.) Hurry over to fund the campaign here and help this SF brand expand—you're really just doing yourself a favor.
