Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to Vox.com, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.
If you've all but given up on finding an East Bay yoga class that you actually like, visit Hot Spot Yoga for some stretching and sweating that often ends with a champs or beer tasting. Studio owner and lead instructor Adesina Dowers conceptualized a space where barre classes can look "like a twerkshop" and Friday night can double as a musical journey to classics like TLC and Wu-Tang Clan. It all makes sense given that Adesina worked as a publicist for the Island Def Jam Music Group in NYC before discovering yoga and moving west to Oakland. Find the full schedule of classes here, and take note that new students can buy one week of unlimited classes for $20.
