Benjamin Franklin Ensign, better known as Benji, has a busy life. Though he's described as a "mutt," evidence suggests that the two-and-a-half-year-old pup would be better classified as a working dog. Every morning, Benji walks with his person, Kat Ensign, from their home in North Beach to their work home, Les Méchantes in The Yard at Mission Rock. "It's a little over 2 1/2 miles so I usually carry him the last mile," Kat tells Racked. "Once we get to the shop, Benji has a sip of water, gets comfy underneath the desk, and plots just how he will get to the food trucks."
When he's not lounging in makeshift fortresses around the shop, Benji is the super star of the sales team, both coaxing customers into the store and modeling Les Méchantes' line for dogs. In his downtime, he prefers the finer things—sleeping on bear skin rugs, and sharing Senor Sisig fries with folks en route to The Yard's beer garden.
Les Méchantes may only have a limited residency in the SFMade container at The Yard, but Benji will be at the shop for the duration of the brand's tenure— assuming that he demonstrates self-control around the food trucks. If you're in the neighborhood, stop in and let him help you pick out a gift for your own four-legged friend. Just don't forget the fries.
