The Future of Fashion: 100+ Photos from Academy of Art University's Graduation Presentation

Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to Vox.com, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.

It's graduation season, which means that the San Francisco real estate market will soon be flooded once more with a wave of young techies willing to pay $10K a month to live on a bunk bed in the Mission. But it's not all bad news! Because this is also the time of year when art school fashion shows remind us that there are still wildly creative youngins' in the city who are making beautiful things. (And probably won't be able to afford to live here after finishing art school.)

Last week, we attended Academy of Art University's graduation fashion show to soak in students' avant-garde goodness, and we're sharing all the looks with you. Scroll through the images above to find your new, favorite local designer. We're partial to Ruone Yan, who makes the kind of pieces that probably haunt Kanye's dreams, and JC Munoz, who created his own monochromatic textiles for his collection. Let us know your favorites in the comments.
