Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to Vox.com, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.
Neiman Marcus has a Last Call Studio on Market. Nordstrom has a Rack. Now it's Saks's turn to join the designer discount game on the popular retail corridor.
We've been telling you since last year that Saks Fifth Avenue Off 5th is opening at 901 Market Street, and now we have confirmation that the 40,500-square-foot store will open on Thursday, May 28th. It will be the first metropolitan store for Off 5th, so let's give ourselves a collective pat on the back for being number one.
The grand opening festivities will start on the 28th at 9am —one hour prior to showtime— when staffers will award early birds with $50 gift cards every five minutes; one lucky winner will walk away with a $500 shopping spree. Later that evening, customers will be treated to complimentary hair braiding, and nail polish and makeup touch-ups. The festivities continue through the weekend, as the first 200 shoppers to arrive every day through Sunday get special chocolate bars, four of which will contain golden tickets redeemable for $100 gift cards. (Willy Wonka, eat your heart out.)
You have less than a week to save up for the big opening, so consider skipping those bottomless mimosas over Memorial Day weekend and padding your pockets for the deals ahead.
