Another gold star goes to Pilates ProWorks® for creating its latest out-of-the-box Pilates-centric workout with a twist. Meet Try matBox, debuting this week at the studio's Marina and FiDi locations. This knockout group class, a mix of kickboxing, Pilates, and yoga, is designed to strengthen the core, improve alignment and, duh, blast calories—all in approximately 55 minutes.
Think you're ready to go a couple rounds with matBox? Once you step into the ring, you'll put on the gloves for some high-intensity kickboxing with a punching bag. Next, it's time to hit the mats for a core Pilates workout followed up by an invigorating yoga sesh for alignment and balance.
Of course, all along the way, you should be having "kick-ass levels of fun," says Pilates ProWorks co-founder Taylor Carter. But don't just take her word for it, take a class: matBox is currently scheduled several days a week at the Marina (2238 Union Street) and FiDi (563 Commercial Street) locations. For specific times, check the website; and while you're at it, book a class so you don't get knocked out —this one's sure to be a crowd-pleaser.
