Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to Vox.com, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.
Whether you're an interior designer, fancy yourself one, or you're just gaga for design goodness, hear this: SF Design Week (SFDW) is coming to town from June 4th through June 12th. And don't let the name fool you—while the bulk of events will take place in the city, there are plenty of talks, studio tours and get-togethers to be held across city lines, and both bridges. (Larkspur, Berkeley, Sunnyvale, we're talking to you.)
Aesthetes should be very excited, as this is no small affair with more than 60 studio tours and 75 events scheduled throughout the week. Produced by the San Francisco chapter of the American Institute of Graphic Arts (AIGA SF), and a long list of renowned partners, SFDW is all about showcasing what makes Bay Area design so unique and innovative. In other words, creativity of all kinds will be in extra-large supply from the opening reception on June 4th at Pier 27 until the final sip has been sipped at closing-night happy hour at Box Clever on June 12th.
In between, there is so much to do, see, and experience, we suggest surfing on over to the official SFDW site and booking your tix, pronto. (Things will get sold out.) Just a few of the events we're looking forward to include: the House Lettering & Printing Master Workshop at Heath Ceramics; Technology + Design: How Technology Is at Pier 27; Pret-A-Porter SF fashion show at Taylor/Monroe; Inside Houzz Design: Meet the Team at Houzz's Palo Alto office; 50 Poems/50 Images at the Italian Consulate; and An Insider's Tour of the Gardens at AT&T (guess where?).
