Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to Vox.com, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.
SoulCycle has dazzled NorCal with four shiny new indoor cycling studios in the past two years. That's four grand openings. Four days of festivities with DJs and balloons and photo booths. Four launches for exclusive Soul merchandise. So how could the company possibly distinguish its Castro grand opening from the rest? Hollywood strippers should do the trick.
This weekend, SoulCycle will be sponsoring the Frameline Film Festival, including a preview screening of Magic Mike XXL on Saturday night. (Tickets are available here.)
In addition to some shirtless Channing Tatum goodness, Soul is aligning its opening weekend festivities with SF Pride weekend. To start, a portion of the proceeds from opening day classes on Thursday, June 25th will go SF Pride. On Friday, Ian McAndrew will lead a special "Pride Ride" class, and the DJ, photo booth, and free Pressed Juicery juices will be in full force Saturday for the grand opening. Sunday, classes at the Castro studio will wrap up at 1:30 so instructors can ride (on stationary bikes) on a float in the Pride parade.
If you want to get in on the sweaty Soul action, there are still bikes available for opening weekend classes. While we can't promise Channing Tatum on a bike, Instagram says that Karolina Kurkova has been hanging out at the Union Street Soul this week; so maybe you'll at least meet an Angel in class.
