Can You Handle It? Timbuk2 Is Going Femme

Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to Vox.com, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.

This just in: Timbuk2, creator of San Francisco's iconic go-to messenger bag, is taking a turn for the girlie, with FEMME. The soon-to-launch women's bag line is full-on luxe. We're talking all-leather designs, elevated interiors and seriously cool hardware. Trust us, all four styles are off the charts on the chic meter. With design parents like CEO Patti Cazzato (Clary Sage Organics, Levi's and Gap) and Andrea Chynoweth (Vivienne Westwood, Gemma Kahng and Levi's), is it any wonder?

But don't get us wrong, the new bags, which range in price from $198 to $398, are still hella practical. They're made for the active and stylish woman—the type who leaves the office, hops on her PUBLIC bike and heads straight to Public House.

So, clotheshorse, you're probably chomping at the bit to find out when you can get your hands on these beauties: The launch party is on September 2nd at the Timbuk2 Factory Store (587 Shotwell Street), from 7pm to 9pm. Everyone's invited for an evening of complimentary sushi, sake and shopping. The event is free but please RSVP here.

Stay tuned for a closer look at FEMME before the big night.
