Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to Vox.com, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.
There's no longer any need to panic should you find your phone is on the verge of dying while you're out and about in Union Square: Just head run to Neiman Marcus for an assist from ChargeItSpot. Last week, two charging stations—one on the second floor near the shoe salon (uh-oh) and the other on the fourth floor near the Rotunda—were installed.
The juice is totally free and secure. All you have to do is enter your mobile number, choose a chic security image (from Neiman's fall lookbook, natch), insert your phone in the locked compartment and go about your merry way until all your bars are back, and your beloved is ready to talk and text. Pretty cool, eh?
We may "accidentally" let our phone drain just to try it out—after all, we did spy a really cute blouse in the CUSP boutique last week...
