Go North for the Start of Real San Francisco Summer

Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to Vox.com, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.

Don't know about you, but we think'st a lazy float in a newly refurbished Healdsburg pool and an on-demand Wine Country massage are the perfect way to kick off the start of Bay Area summer—nothing to do with what the calendar says, of course.

First up, make your way to the rustic-chic Hotel Healdsburg for a round of relaxation. Whether you stay overnight or book yourself a scrumptious spa treatment (coconut sugar polish, perhaps), you're going to want to carve out lots of poolside time. The recently refreshed pool area, surrounded by a lush garden of white roses, fig and Heritage olive trees, features new modern (and comfortable) furnishings and lighting design that set a lovely scene, day and night.

Also adding to the sophisticated, chill vibe is a new zinc and concrete pool bar (designed by David Baker Architects and built by Berkeley-based Defauw Design +Fabrication), where guests can enjoy summer bites from the hotel's Cal-Italian restaurant Pizzando, along with a selection of beer, wine and specialty cocktails like the Havana (Plantation 3 Star Rum, Hanger One Kafir Lime Vodka, yuzu, and mint). Yes, please. The pool is open daily from 10am to 10pm. The Hotel Healdsburg is located at 25 Matheson Street, Healdsburg.

Let's face it, after long hard days of wine tasting and dining at some of the finest Wine Country restaurants, you deserve a massage. Zeel has your back—and you don't even need to leave your hotel room or VRBO. With newly expanded service in Napa and Sonoma, the on-demand massage company will deliver a licensed massage therapist to your place, in as little as an hour from the time you book from the easy-to-use app. Simply choose the gender of your therapist, preferred massage technique (Swedish, deep tissue, sports, pre-natal, etc.) and, voila, get ready for your rubdown. And this being the land of vineyards and romance, couples massages are available as well.

To celebrate its arrival in Napa and Sonoma, Zeel is giving everyone who books a massage here a sample pack of Chardonnay-infused Olavie products including body butter, shower gel, and body scrub. (That is, until there are no mo.) Massages are available from 8am to 10:30pm 7/365.
