Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to Vox.com, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.
It's official: beloved San Francisco label 49 Square Miles is out with a new fall collection under a spanking new name. Why the change? Founder Lisa Rissetto wanted to take premium materials and expert craftsmanship to the next level. And that she did—no details were spared, from the buttery-soft Italian leather to the hand-carved natural horn hardware. And, duh, all the styles are seriously chic and functional. We'll take the Greer Hobo (Lisa's personal favorite) and Tripp Crossbody (pictured above) in black and brown, thankyouverymuch.
At around $175 for wallets and $375 to $695 for bags, these local gems are still quite reasonable, so you may wanna nab one for yourself online. As for 49 Square Miles' signature totes, fear not (yup, we checked Gilt.com, too), you can find those and goodies galore at Rissetto's huge sample sale on October 1st through 3rd at its airy South SF studio (160 South Linden Avenue, Suite 201). Hours: Thursday and Friday 10am to 6pm; Saturday 10 am to 2pm .
Guess we'll be able to handle the news, after all.
