Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to Vox.com, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.
Artisan treats are standard fare at pop-ups round these parts. But the temporary storefront brought to you by Altai and Dixie Elixirs is like none we've seen before: You need a medical marijuana license to shop.
Located inside Harborside Health Center, an Oakland dispensary, the well-respected brands have come together to sell their gourmet cannabis-infused edibles. Think Cherry Vanilla Soothers (pictured above), made with Bing cherries, Tahitian vanilla and sugar. Or handcrafted Chocolate Truffles, starring cocoa, organic heavy whipping cream and French vanilla-chocolate. And, uh-huh, both have that special (THC) kick.
The pop-up has been around for about a month now and will remain open as long as interest continues, according to a spokesperson. (Umm, this is the Bay Area—interest ain't fading any time soon.)
