The Doors Are Open at Barneys New Freestanding Men's Store

Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to Vox.com, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.

Guys, it's official: you can shop your own dedicated Barneys New York in Union Square. As we reported months ago, the flagship on Stockton Street is now home to a separate, two-level, 19,000-square-foot men's store, which links to the women's store through the lower level.

Of course, there's so much more to shop, including an expanded footwear area, plus Exclusively Ours (XO) collections from Public School, Hood by Air, Russell Westbrook x Tim Coppens, NSF, and Fear of God. Other highlights of the gorgeous, modern space with stainless-steel fixtures, terrazzo floors and mohair sofas and chairs? A dedicated dress-shirt alcove, formalwear, a made-to-measure area and a personal shopping suite.

Note: This is just the completion of the first phase of a multi-year expansion. An updated women's store starring a new Freds at Barneys New York, the retailer's signature Italian restaurant, is expected to be finished in spring 2017. (Finally, we SF-ers will be able to chow on Freds' famous chopped salad on the regular.)
