February is here and so is Olivia Palermo's latest collaboration. The style star, who has translated her chic touch into collections with Aquazzura, BaubleBar and Ciaté London, among others, has now joined forces with Nordstrom to launch Olivia Palermo + Chelsea28. (See more pics.)
The collection, one of four (Spring, Summer, Fall, and Holiday) that will make up the year-long joint effort, features "modern staples with a high-fashion edge." It drops in select stores, including Nordstrom SF Centre, on Monday, February 8th. Prices range from $68 to $448.
We recently had the opportunity to get Palermo's take on the Chelsea28 collection, her favorite pieces and San Francisco fashion...
What was your inspiration for this collection? What did you want to create for women that they might not have in their closets already?
We wanted to create great separates that are elevated and could mix and match easy-to-create outfits women can wear all year. Versatility was an important goal—being able to wear one perfect item in multiple ways so you always feel polished and put together.
What is your favorite piece in this first collection?
I really like the Military Vest and the Sleeveless Suede Trench because they are perfect layering pieces. You can wear each one as a vest or as a dress, mixing them with other pieces in your wardrobe to create looks you can wear throughout the year. A statement coat or vest is always a focus for my personal look because I think a vest or jacket adds dimension and completely elevates an outfit.
What do you like about Chelsea28?
I like Olivia Palermo + Chelsea28 because it offers that little bit of luxury within affordable fashion. I think pattern, texture and color can elevate an entire look, so this collection has great textures like suede and leather, and bright pops of color and prints that feel elevated and luxe. I learned from my aunt that if it's good, it's good—so it doesn't have to be expensive.
You have been doing a lot of collabs lately. Any upcoming ones you can talk about?
I'm focused on getting the Olivia Palermo + Chelsea28 collection off the ground! I can't wait to see responses from customers. I will also be continuing my work with Ciaté London and Westward Leaning.
What are your views on San Francisco fashion? How do you think it differs from LA or NY style?
San Francisco has a relaxed and effortless, cool and chic vibe. I appreciate that. I think SF style is about being comfortable but still very stylish.
Olivia Palermo + Chelsea28 will also be available to shop online on February 8th.
