Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to Vox.com, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.
Sasha Darling's Mission boutique (3187 16th Street) has been a SF favorite for eight years. Not to the mention the fact that BellJar has been a regular on our Racked 38. Damn you, for leaving us—and for your shiny boutique in LA, no less.
Sigh.
Of course, we wish you the best in your new SoCal home, and we'll miss you forever. Where else are we going to find your unique blend of fashion and quirk, cool-girl dresses and funky jewels, hella soaps and hipster housewares?
At least this sad news comes with a three-part silver lining: 1. The store's not closing until the end of April. 2. All apparel (including brand-new stuff) and select accessories are 30 percent off. 3. We can always shop online—and, we suppose, visit Tinseltown.
Plus, it makes us feel better that Ms. Darling does not go easily, as she posts on Facebook: "So it is with a very, very heavy heart, and also a little relief, I have decided to close the SF location and focus my efforts on the new LA store. It has been such an amazing run, and I appreciate and love all of you so much The main reason for closing is simply because I'm in LA now, and I really want to focus on my new life here."
OK, we totally get it. Bye, BellJar.
