Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to Vox.com, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.

The sun has won a few bouts with Karl the Fog lately, and before you know it, it will be September and we'll be enjoying our annual 60 days or so of summer-like weather. In any case, we're guessing you have some sun-filled getaways planned this summer—plus that fog can cast quite a glare. Plenty enough reasons to buy a new pair of sunnies, no? We've scoured the city for the best places to purchase eye protection that will not only shield your eyes from the suns rays, but also add oomph to any outfit. Whether you're into huge and fashiony or slick and retro, you'll find a frame to love at one of these San Francisco shops. Note: the shops are in no particular order other than being arranged vaguely north to south on the map.
