Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to Vox.com, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.

Dress the part. This is one cliché we can get really behind—€”especially when it comes to working out. Alas, whether you need a little sartorial motivation to help make it to spin class or you're just in need of a workout-wardrobe refresh, our roundup of SF stores has your back.

From running shoes to ballet slippers, yoga pants to sports bras and hoodies, you'll find everything you need here. (Stores are listed alphabetically.) Now, go forth and sweat it out in style.

Sports Basement

This place is huge and will set you up with everything from ski gear to jog bras to clothes for looking fly on the elliptical. Local community involvement (and discounts) are another reason to shop here. And the prices are pretty damn good, too. Also check out locations in the Presidio, Berkeley, Walnut Creek, Sunnyvale and Campbell.

Lululemon

Lululemon is synonymous with yogawear. (Hopefully, we've all moved on from the sheer pants debacle.) The clothes are flattering, durable, and just plain fun to wear. Free hemming and in-store classes make prices more palatable, and keep local yogis coming back. Guys, they stock gear for you, too. Other locations: Westfield SF Centre and FiDi (327 Grant Ave).

Athleta

The Gap-owned athletic chain is chockfull of functional and stylish clothing for studio classes to winter sports, tennis to swimming. Although there are plenty of tanks, pants, tops and jackets in neutral tones, the fun, colorful prints, updated seasonally, are a big draw for many.
