Runners tend to be a serious breed. They don't mess around when it comes to their shoes or their running clothes, because nothing is worse than a heel blister on mile 9, or chub rub on mile 19. And there are legions of serious runners in San Francisco—with the Leukemia Society's Team in Training, the Nike Women's Marathon, and so many gorgeous place to run, it's a marathoner's dream. So we've rounded up eight retailers who are fit to supply these cardio-aholics with the best shoes, tights, duck-bill hats and more.

Welcome to Racked's Fitness Week: five days of workout coverage, so that you can start your New Year's resolutions off right.

Fleet Feet Sports

The folks at Fleet Feet are pretty much obsessed with running. They'll analyze your gait to make sure you get the perfect shoe. They even have a "bra fit process" to get you the perfect jog bra. But what has us 100% sold is their "Drive by Shopping" service. If you know what you need, just call ahead and they'll bring it out to your car, no parking necessary.

Lorna Jane

If you're not keen on your running gear being boring, Lorna Jean is your store. They've got fun colors and patterns (floral mania tights anyone?) without sacrificing quality. They've got you covered for pre- and post-run, too.

A Runners Mind - San Francisco

A Runner's Mind wants to make you the best runner you can be, inside and out. "We're as crazy as you are" is one of their mantras, so if you're a running nut, you'll find kindred spirits here, plus some great shoes and gear.

Foot Race

Foot Race just opened this April, they have a very cute French bulldog, and they carry retro-style New Balance. But ti's also carry Brooks, 2XU clothing, Wrightsock socks, Drymax, & Powerstep insoles.

Niketown

A no-brainer: Nike is practically synonymous with running, and the company knows its gear. From the insanely popular Flyknit to the FuelBand and all the tights and tops you could possibly need, Nike is your one-stop-shop.

Sports Basement

Sports Basement covers pretty much every sport, and running is no exception. They have an excellent selection of running shoes, clothes and accessories to keep your runs comfy in the many types of weather you'll encounter in the Bay Area. Also check out their other SF location at 601 Old Mason Road near Crissy Field.

See Jane Run - San Francisco

See Jane Run is the ultimate shop for the running lady. And it's not only a store — it's also a support group and a race organizer for the community. So run in to get fitted up from head to toe so you can start training for the half marathon (or 5k) in June.

On The Run

Mark Watcher, On the Run's owner, is the official foot health consultant for the San Francisco Fire Department. But he's not to busy to give you an at-home shoe consult if you need one. In addition to Brooks, Saucony, Asics, New Balance and more running shoes, the store also sells comfy walking shoes from Dansko, Naot and the like.
