Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to Vox.com, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.

Whether you're planning a tropical getaway or a trip to the snow, a swimsuit (or suits) is a travel essential for those clearwater snorkeling adventures or that après-ski dip into the hot tub. The trends for this year's resort season include loud prints (Mara Hoffman was inspired by India and Nanette Lepore by Morocco), one pieces with laser cutouts, and embellishments (like fringe)—although not all at once. Decide on your swimwear needs in advance (active? lounging? surf-appropriate?) then head out to one of these stores to find the perfect match for you and your upcoming vacay. Or, better yet, let the suit decide the fate of your holiday adventure.
