Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to Vox.com, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.

Ready your pedis and kick your Chelsea boots to the curb (at least for a couple of days) 'cause sandal season is here. For much of June, July and August, you'll probably be bundled up in layers but who cares? The calendar says summer and, dammit, your feet wanna play and your toes wanna be free. This  guide to our favorite local sandal-shopping spots is guaranteed to lead to a fine summer romance—and several major crushes. (Boutiques are mapped north to south.)
